Why Confess Your Sins to a Priest? 3

Have you ever asked or been asked,”Why should I confess my sins to someone else, If I can just confess them to God directly?”

Of course, you can confess your sins to God anytime you want. And God forgives you if you are truly sorry.

When you confess your sins to a priest, however, you are not just telling some guy what you did wrong. In order to understand why confessing your sins to a priest is different (and important), you need to exercise your faith in the teaching of the Church.

The following video explains this clearly and effectively:

Perhaps you’ve wanted to go to confession, but it’s been so long you can’t remember what to do. Or maybe, you thought it’s been so long that the priest wouldn’t have time to listen to you. Don’t Worry! Just tell the priest how long it’s been; he will understand, and he’ll walk you through the steps.

The priest is eager to hear your confession

Many parishes have penitential services during Lent, where they invite several priests from around the area to hear confessions and offer spiritual talks on the sacrament of reconciliation to help you understand the meaning of the sacrament. These lenten services are a good opportunity to learn more about your faith and make a really good confession.

If you haven’t been to confession in a while and want some tips on how to make a good one, here’s the shortest and easiest guide to get you prepared: just follow this link.

If you haven’t been in a really long time, don’t worry. Check out this site, watch the videos, and read the testimonies at Busted Halo .

Take the step. Make a good confession. You’ll be glad you did!
