Snapshots of True Devotion to Mary 18

Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

Fr Jason Smith

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on Biltrix, but now that I’m ready to get back in the swing of things, I can think of no better way than starting off with the Blessed Virgin Mary. She has meant so much to me that I’ve found I can’t help myself but snap pictures with my iPhone of the beautiful statues where I’ve offered an Ave.

I thought today, being the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, I’d share some of my favorites along with some profound wisdom from St Louis de Montfort’s True Devotion to Mary. I hope you enjoy it!

“Devotion to Mary consists in giving ourselves entirely to our Lady, in order to belong entirely to Jesus through her…

Therefore we must give her:

Our body, with all its senses and members;

Our soul, with all its powers;

All our exterior goods of fortune, whether present or to come;

Our interior and spiritual goods…

which are our merits and virtues…

and our good works, past, present, and future…

without hoping for any other recompense for our offering and service…

except the honor of belonging to Jesus Christ through Mary and in Mary.”–St Louis de Montfort

    • “If a picture were worth a thousand words…” I get a deeper sense of what Jesus means when he tells us not to rattle off words when we pray but to pray with the heart whenever I contemplate the serene image of Mary in prayer. Thank you, SR. God bless you!

  1. A post that blesses me immensely! It was Our Lady who led me into a realisation of the truth of the Catholic Church as the One True Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. I owe her an eternal debt of gratitude for her graces. God bless Our Heavenly Queen & Mother. And God bless you for your words.

  2. The 15th September is my birthday! And my Baptism was on the feast of the Holy Rosary, 7th October! I feel very blessed and protected by Our Blessed Lady because of this.
