Just a friendly public service reminder on behalf of the IRS, taken from the letter below:
Any activity designed to influence the outcome of a partisan election can be construed as intervention. If the IRS determines that your house of worship has engaged in unlawful intervention, it can revoke the institution’s tax-exempt status or levy significant fines on the house of worship or its leaders.
Evidently, the right to free speech comes with a price-tag. Perhaps the time has come to render on to Cesar his due. Let us not ignore the other side of the coin: our first obligation to render on to God what belongs to God.
reposting.
Thank you, Gracie!
In the words of a Priest I once heard, “I cannot tell you who to vote for, but if you vote for pro-choice, do not come in here and call yourself a Catholic!” Done deal! Good post! God Bless, SR
Done deal is right! SF made a similar point the other day on his blog. Thanks SR!
Perfect conclusion. Render unto God what is God’s. How can the government try to claim that the churches are ‘interfering” in politics when the political issue of the time is the survival of the churches? It’s so, so, so, SO Orwellian.
I thought about 1984 myself! Have you seen D’souza’s 2016?
Not yet. I’m sure planning to try though.
If the Church can no longer weigh in on moral issues then what, pray tell, can we weigh in on. Will certain passages in our scriptures be redacted by the Bible police?
Apparently, the Bible police have already struck in North America, north of the boarder. I can’t remember exactly where I read this recently, but if a preacher aludes to Biblical teaching on homosexual marriage, it could mean imprisonment and/or a fine. Bingo anyone?
Yes it is true and I may even have posted the story in the past (can’t remember). But 8 Kids and a Business has attested to this.
It is also interesting that there are alot of pastors (mostly evangelical christians) that have signed on to test the IRS. They want to get arrested and test the Constitutionality of their ruling. I wish the Catholic Church would join them in every single parish in the U.S. and take the whole thing to court. We actually should be leading this crusade.
Unbelievable! The Bible police may not be far off, servusfidelis. Now is the time for even the most lukewarm Christian to stand up and be counted.
What other options will people be faced with? The lukewarm Christian will be “spewed out of [his] mouth.” This is not the time to be a fence-sitter. It also reminds me: “If this is what happens when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?” I hope that’s not too apocalyptic for anyone.
Unbelievable!!!
I believe more of us will be fighting up stream with you soon, Catholic Salmon. Either that, or be washed away in the mainstream. Thanks for the comment!
This always I find interesting, that people always dictate how religion should not interfere with government, yet a free pass is given to the government to interfere with religion. The intention of the 1st Amendment was to protect speech and the free exercise of religion, not to protect government from speech or religion. Notice, though, if these rights under the 1st Amendment are not upheld or are threatened by the government, the very next amendment is in place to protect the 1st…. I’ll leave it at that.
Vivo Cristo rey!

I would hate to see it come to that, Travis. But I hear you. Viva Cristo Rey!

Is speech free in America? Or does it come at a price? And, finally, what should that price be?
Thank you for the reblog, Travis! God bless!
I must live in PollyannaLand. I never knew of this.
I am reblogging it, if that is okay with you.
Always feel free to reblog from here, Reinkat. In fact, we greatly appreciate it. Thanks and God bless!

The price to pay for following Christ.
Never in my school studies of the freedom in America and how great we are because of it, did I ever catch a hint of anything like this, nor did I see it coming.
OK so I see you already have the Reader’s Appreciation Award…hmmm… well I second that opinion. lol I nominated you again for that award, hopefully it will send some others your way. Be blessed. http://lifesearchforchrist.wordpress.com/2012/09/26/another-award-post/ gracie

This is the price of freedom from government interference in an increasingly secular society. Who will pay the price? Who will fold like a cheap suit? And who will “stand and deliver” the message God has placed on their hearts? We’ll see….
