Happy Fourth Sunday of Advent, Everybody!
It’s officially the shortest week of the year — Just two days till Christmas. So if you havent’t started decorating that tree, yet…
Now is a good time to get started on that.
Last week, I landed in balmy Georgia (balmy compared to the great white north) to spend a couple of week at my parents’ house. It’s the first time I spent Christmas at home in I don’t know how many years. On Monday last week, my Dad inspired me with a great idea: “Hey! Do you want to help me paint the garage?”
The inside of the garage had never been painted before, so this was going to be no simple undertaking. A lot of patch work had to be done before we started painting, and 17 years worth of accumulated lawn equipment, powertools tools, storage boxes, shelves, etc. had to be moved before we got started painting. This was going to be a 5-day project during which time I would be totally disengaged from the worries of the outside world — just as we were making the homestretch for Christmas — How could I say No?
Long story short, I decided that this would be a good week of internet fasting for me. Besides, you would not want me blogging after inhaling paint fumes all day.
So that is what I’ve been doing for the past week. Spending time with my Mom and Dad, preparing for Christmas in a unique way. No email. No Facebook or Twitter. Just family time. It’s nice to be home for the Holidays.
There are a couple of pendings that I need to attend to. First, I still need to post that video of me singing a Christmas Carol and share it with the Accidental Kansan, before midnight on Christmas. We’ll see how that turns out.
Second, I want to thank Terry @ 8 Kids and a Buisness for the Blog of the Year Award for 2012 — I’ll have the post up for passing it along soon after Christmas.
Third, I need to explain why I included the words White Christmas in the title — we painted the garage white. I would include a photo, but… It’s just a garage.

Have a wonderful Christmas! I’ll be heading home on Christmas day after my 10AM Mass at the parish, and I’ll be there until Saturday. I’d help my father paint his garage, but it would take us the entire time I’ll be home just to clear out all the stuff in the garage… (no cars in the garage, just tools, boxes, etc.).

I too have been needfully absent form the blog these days (nice way to put it). And that is a GOOD thing. If the psalm says:
Ecce quam bonum et quam iucundum habitare fratres in unum (What a wanderful thing it is for brothers to be together as brothers — loose translation)
