Like many other WordPress bloggers, Biltrix received a “2012 Year in Blogging” report. I decided not to share it as a separate post on the blog but I did want to share something interesting I found in the stats. People are in search of Jesus searching for them.
Fr Jason Smith posted his article on William Holman Hunt’s “Light of the World” back in April. Since then, that post receives an average of 10 visits per day, to garner a total of 2,522 views and counting.
Ironically, back in November, this post surpassed our most popular post, Cardinal Dolan beats Lady Gaga and Pres. Obama in votes for Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year,” which now has a total of 2,094 hits. The Cardinal Dolan/Gaga/Obama post had a big flare up for about a week. The Holman Hunt piece has consistently received picked up more search terms than any other post. Those search terms include:
- Jesus knocking at the door
- Behold I stand at the door and knock
- Jesus, Light of the World
- And several other phrases that include the terms “Holman Hunt” and “Jesus painting”
The real irony that I perceive in this searching phenomenon is that a lot of people are seeking an image of Jesus seeking for them.
God truly is seeking you out. If you are earnestly looking for him too, I am sure you will find one another. That, at least, is my prayer for today.
Reblogged this on The Lamehousewife Blog.
Thank you for the reblog LHW. God bless!
I see this acted out daily at work–people who might not even consciously know they are lost, seeking peace in their lives, looking here and there and not being satisfying. No wonder this image has resonance, this topic so compelling.
All the while, Jesus is there, waiting for us to let him in. Little do we know that Peace is seeking us out and He is just outside the door.
Pithy, yet powerful, James!
Thanks, JTR!
I agree with Reinkat. On my blog, the most frequent searches were of prayer and God’s care. People are definitely looking, even if they’re not sure what they’re looking for. To that end, I think you do a wonderful job providing posts for the soul so…………I volleyed the Blog of the Year Award back to you.
Thanks again, Terry. For you to say we do a wonderful job of providing posts for the soul is a real honor. Thanks for nominating Biltrix for another star on the Blog of the Year Award. God bless!
This was one of the first posts I read when I discovered your lovely blog and saw it marked as a “favourite”.
It is a beautiful article and it captivated me. It explains man’s constant search in life for a happiness that eludes him. This restless longing for God – and hence, for God’s love for him – is there, even when he does not realise it himself.
“Our hearts are restless Lord, until they rest in Thee”.
Thank you Biltrix.
Thanks, Kathleen. A very appropriate quote from St Augustine. God bless!
